What music do Gen Xers listen to?

Another reason why the Gen Xers go one about music of the day is the huge range of genres. Music aficionados note the different genres spawned in that era: punk, disco, Eurobeat, New Wave, synthpop, metal, glam rock, grunge, alt-rock and Britpop, among others.
The neglected middle child. Gen X is the smallest generation, born between 1965 and 1980 and often referred to as the bridge between Millennials and Baby Boomers. Gen Xers are now juggling child care, homeownership, and reaching the peak of their careers.
Gen X'ers core values include diversity, self-reliance, practicality, informality, work/life balance, flexibility, and technology. Like other engaged workers, Gen X'ers give their best when their responsibilities in the workplace align with their values.
Experts characterize Xers as “working to live” because they value work-life balance. Unlimited work from home days and a flexible work schedule tend to rank high on their motivation scale. Likewise, time off is often a more appealing motivator for Xers than bonuses.
Gen Z and Young Millennials, categorized as adults between the ages of 18 and 29, are more likely to listen music. Seventy-six percent listen to music, compared to 72% of all US adults.
Baby Boomers (born in the '40s and '50s) had rock and soul. Generation X (born in the '60s and '70s) had grunge and hip-hop. There's plenty of overlap, of course, and these are incredibly broad distinctions that don't take a lot of other genres into consideration.
As generational stereotypes go, I nominate Gen X to be, without a doubt, known as "The Coolest Generation." Baby Boomers (1946 to 1964) started off on the right track with the hippie movement in the '60s, but soon became the folks that brought us the “Me Decade,” yuppies, and President Trump.
Recent surveys show that Millennials place a higher priority on health and wellness than any other generation, including the oldest Americans, and the importance that Millennials give to a healthy lifestyle has increased more dramatically than other generations over the past decade.
Gen Xers spent less time with their parents than previous generations of children had. First recognized as latchkey kids, this generation found themselves home alone and taking care of themselves and their siblings, while their parents worked. Divorce was common. They were not coddled for every emotional need and want.
Gen Z have had to endure some of the most critical and formative times of their lives (important steps in education and the beginning of their careers) against the backdrop of a global pandemic, yet are still successfully delivering the results needed to progress in this world. They're not crumbling.
Which generation has worked the hardest?
People ages 16 to 25, commonly known as Generation Z, consider themselves the hardest-working generation yet won't tolerate being forced to work when they don't want to, according to a new study.
What demographic listens to music the most? While teens tend to listen to the most music, adults who are 45+ tend to buy the most music. Music listening peaks among older teens and young adults, ages 16–24.

In fact, Millennials are the generation that listen to AM/FM radio the most. According to Nielsen, nine out of 10 Millennials tune in to radio every week. Radio is and continues to be the centerpiece of audio in America and is essential to any marketing plan to reach Millennials.
The vast majority (82%) of Gen Z and Millennials say they use music to alter their mood.

According to our research, Gen Z is driving the growth of this genre: Between 2019 and 2021, the number of Gen Z respondents who say they enjoy listening to hip-hop/rap has risen dramatically, while remaining constant among Millennials.
While still a teenager, US singer Billie Eilish became a pop culture icon while selling several hundred million records — the latest debuting at No 1 — and setting new standards for up-and-coming pop artists.
The survey shows baby boomers (55+) feel the most confident above any generation, with 60% of boomers rating their self-esteem as six or higher on a scale of one to ten.
Gen Z is the most diverse generation of all time and has grown up with technology. Most of us consider ourselves as being the most creative generation.
Which generation moves the most?
- 13% of Millennials and Gen Z moved in 2021, the highest % among all age groups.
- Only 3% of people aged 60+ moved last year.
Gen Alpha is the generation following Gen Z and currently includes all children born in or after 2010—the same year the iPad was born. The majority of this demographic is under 12 years of age, but the oldest of them will become teens in 2022.
